MDRC Annual Picnic and Specialty Show
Looking Glass Park in Grand Ledge
June 23, 2007
Though planned at the last minute, a great time was had by the members who attended the annual picnic and specialty show this year. Karl Ehnis was to judge youth and Mike Adams was to judge open. Due to the small numbers, Karl generously offered to let Mike judge all the rabbits to make it worth his while to drive up. Since there were two judges tables set up, Karl would get one class up on the table and ready for Mike to judge as Mike was judging the prior class. Mike only had to walk back and forth between the tables and never had to wait for a rabbit though he still had plenty of time to joke around. And it was great that Tom Diectrich traveled back to see all his Michigan friends!
The picnic was terrific, special thanks to Henry for Buffalo wings (legs?). Without going into too much detail, Henry often eats, well, rabbits, which he normally debones. But the front legs are too much work to debone and can substitute for Buffalo Wings. Henry cooked them in a pan on the grill with bbq sauce and they were the hit of the meal, right Mike? Another nice touch were the homemade strawberry and apple pies that Janet brought. The Reaus had to leave early, Brenda's Mom had just had hip surgery the day before. She is doing well and at home now.
Congratulations to the winners:
